A Guide to Wireless Door Intercoms

Nowadays, there are many people who knock on your door and pretend to be in need of your assistance just to gain access to your house and help themselves to your belongings. One of the best ways to avert such a disaster, however, is to intensify your home security by installing an intercom system in your door or gate. Because you can never tell when disaster would strike you and your loved ones, it is better to be prepared and set up a door intercom than to go up a river without a paddle.

Door intercoms have become more popular over the years. Because many families are becoming keen on ensuring the safety of their members, most of them opt to purchase such a device. Unlike the usual home intercom systems, door intercoms are developed specifically to allow users to confirm and determine the identity of visitors, unexpected or otherwise, without the need to answer the door. Most apartment buildings are also equipped with door intercoms to save the tenants the trouble of having to go down the lobby whenever someone calls for them.

Such devices are also handy when you want to avoid certain people, like your neighbor who keeps harassing you and those suspicious-looking strangers. Door intercoms could also help you deal easily with persistent salesmen and other unwanted guests.

When choosing a wireless door intercom for your home, you might want to purchase one that features a small video screen, a camera, a doorbell, and a handset. The monitor, which is usually four inches long and four inches wide, allows you to see the person on the other side of the door. This could be extremely useful in identifying your guests, especially if you do not want to rely on your ears alone. There are also door intercoms equipped with video screens that allow you to save the images of your visitors so you could know exactly who dropped by your house even if you are away on an errand. Some models also come with colored video screens but they are more expensive compared to those with black and white monitors.

Certain wireless door intercom models also feature a door release function that allows you to open your door or gate with just a touch of a button. Such a feature could be extremely handy especially if you are busy with various house works and could not personally welcome your guest or family member who is arriving from work or school.
